Have you ever felt stuck trying to do two things at once? Like when you’re building a Lego tower and at the same time someone asks you to draw a picture. You start, but the tower falls over, the drawing looks funny, and in the end you’re just frustrated. Trying to split your heart works the same way.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6 that we can’t serve two masters. We can’t let our hearts be pulled in two different directions—partly toward God, and partly toward things that distract us, like greed, jealousy, or fear. It just doesn’t work. When we try, we end up exhausted and lost.
God doesn’t want to be one of many voices in our lives; He wants to be our guide, the one who shows us the best way forward. And when we trust Him with our choices, things actually get easier—not always easy, but clearer.
But when we choose God as our one true guide, everything becomes clearer. His way is full of love, peace, and joy—something we can share with our whole family.
So next time you feel pulled in two directions, ask yourself: Who’s the real boss of my heart? Choose God, and you’ll always be on the right path—even if you still need to finish your homework.
